Fractional CTO

Interim Technical Leadership

You have a tech team — but no one truly steering it. I take that role, part-time, to stabilise the situation without the overhead of a full-time CTO hire.

The problem

Your startup is growing but your technical organisation isn't keeping up. As a non-technical founder or manager, you're spending time managing technical fire drills, arbitrating architecture debates, and filling a CTO role that doesn't exist — instead of focusing on your business. The result: everyone moves in their own direction, nothing is prioritised, and deliveries drag on.

Does this sound familiar?

  • Sprints constantly overrun and estimates never hold
  • Your devs are waiting for technical decisions instead of building
  • The roadmap changes too often and no one knows what's a priority
  • You struggle to evaluate technical candidates when hiring
  • Code quality varies wildly from one developer to another
  • You're managing tech emergencies instead of steering your product

Who it's for

Early-stage startup

Seed → Series A, scaling without a CTO in place or with a CTO who is too junior for the context.

SME / scale-up

Tech team of 2 to 10 people, needing senior leadership without committing to a full-time hire.

Non-technical founder

Who is coordinating the tech by default and wants to hand that responsibility to an expert.

CTO absent or in transition

Sudden departure, maternity leave, junior CTO: I step in to stabilise until the right person is in place.

What I do

1

Technical organisation audit

Assessment of current processes, skills and practices. Starting point for every engagement.

2

Roadmap and prioritisation

Defining technical OKRs, arbitrating between projects, aligning with business objectives.

3

Delivery rituals

Setting up or overhauling sprints, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives so the team actually ships.

4

Standards and governance

Code review, coding conventions, documentation, security: I lay the foundations that last.

5

Hiring support

Defining technical profiles, running technical interviews, onboarding new developers.

What you get

Delivery rituals installed and sustained over time
A team that moves forward without pulling you into every decision

Regular reporting for founders and investors

Format
